Pilgrimage is one of the quests in Act 1: A Cold and Iron Faith in Diablo 4.
Your objective is to complete the pilgrimage to the Shrine of the Penitent before you can meet Inarius.

Speak with Vigo
When you reach the area, you’ll see Vigo. Talk to him.
Read from the Tablet at the Altar of Purity
The first location is marked on the map below.
Head to the Altar of Purity and read the Tablet.
Bring the Idol of the Faithful to the Altar of Martyrdom
Next, pick up the Idol of the Faithful. Once you do so, your vision will become much narrower and dark.
Head to the next location on the map.
There will be mobs along the way. At each altar, you will also encounter stronger mobs.
What you need to do is to place the Idol on the Altar of Martyrdom and it takes time to place it.
Bring the Idol of the Faithful to the Altar of Redemption
After you’re done, read the tablet and pick up the Idol again. Now, bring the Idol to the next marked location at the Altar of Redemption.
More mobs await. Place the Idol on the altar and repeat the steps.
Bring the Idol of the Faithful to the Altar at the Anointed Ascent
Now, bring the idol to the Altar at the Anointed Ascent.
Bring the Idol of the Faithful to the Shrine of the Penitent
The final location is the Shrine of the Penitent.
